The Inside Story

by Dave Rogers

Licking its wounds, Voyager staggered away from another encounter gone wrong; and Captain Janeway issued a familiar order.

"Senior staff, report to Lieutenant Carey. Usual rota."

One lengthy debriefing later, Tom Paris paused on the way out of Carey's quarters. "Don't you ever get tired of it, Joe?"

Carey pondered. "Sometimes I'd give anything to be back in Engineering, B'Elanna's temper and all. But we'll get home some day, and half of us will probably get cashiered. We'll need to support ourselves somehow, and I'm the best writer aboard."

Tom nodded. They'd just have to hope people wanted Voyager novelizations.
